Who is called?
The Kirk has a long-standing tradition of asking all able members to serve occasionally in the nursery because we believe that children are a gift and seek to honor their presence and value as Jesus does in his kingdom. Through your help, we are able to show both parents of little ones and our community how much our God values children through providing care for children during our worship service. We encourage and invite every member to participate in serving in the nursery as we seek to raise up the next generation of believers together.
What is expected of volunteers? And what if I'm not good with kids!?
We have a wonderful nursery staff to supervise each room. We ask that member volunteers assist the staff on Sunday mornings by holding babies, playing, monitoring the children, reading stories, and coloring with the children. We never ask volunteers to change diapers or to manage the room alone. This is not about being skilled at childcare; it is about loving your Kirk family! All that you need is a loving heart and a willingness to serve.
Can I bring my own bigger kids?
Yes! Families are welcome to volunteer together!
How do I sign up?
Just wait for the Nursery Coordinator to email you with a request to serve in nursery or Children' Worship. You have the option of taking a suggested date to serve or requesting a more convenient time that suits your schedule. Members are asked to serve approximately three times per year.
