Setting the Stage

Discovering Your Role in the Story of Global Missions

Kirk of the Hills 2024 Missions Conference

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a part of it."
- 1 Corinthians 12:27

To pull off something as grand as a Broadway play, you need countless individuals - each with their own role. The playwright casts the vision, the actors bring the script to life, the stagehands create the atmosphere, and the audience brings the energy. Each individual brings their talents, enthusiasm, and skills to the auditorium to make it all happen. Join us this year as we consider how, much like a great show, Global Missions requires the work of so many different roles to see to the spread of the Gospel. God has a role in mind for you, will you join us to consider what that role may be?

Get to know our conference speaker:

Michael first went to Honduras to work with street kids in 1993 on a six-month internship through Wheaton College’s International Studies Program (HNGR). In 1998, he moved back to make this work his life’s calling. While aiding in the reconstruction effort after Hurricane Mitch ravished Honduras in October 1998, Michael began to develop a vision for the Micah Project, which opened its doors in January 2000. Michael has been executive director and group home dad at the Micah Project ever since!

The Micah Project believes in a God who never, ever stops pursuing His lost sheep.  In this context, those lost ones are usually just kids, young people who have had to figure out how to survive on the streets of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  They believe that God sees them not as “street kids” but as His precious sons and daughters.  In their work with this population that now spans decades, the Micah Project has seen Him transform these children in beautiful and miraculous ways.  There is no addiction too strong, no heart too broken, and no life too far gone that His love cannot find a way to break in with its transforming power.  They believe that God delights in helping young people learn, in the deepest part of their souls, what it means to “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).
